Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:

Tomorrow we come to the last day of the regular 2020-2021 school year.  We will gather in the morning to spend time in various activities, receive meals and report cards, and go home on the dismissal schedule that we’ve had all spring.

To all of those who have helped to make it through this school year in person and on-line whose planning and efforts have made this school year possible – parents and guardians, bus drivers, cooks, custodians, chaperones, monitors, secretaries, faculty, and administrators – we thank you.  To our students who made the effort each day living through this historical time period to advance your learning – we thank you for your work while we hope that we have done right by you.  We have all made it through this time together and it will bind us together for the rest of our days.

We remind you that our three-week Summer School session begins on Monday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.  Denning and FCHS students will meet at their respective buildings.  Students at FIS and CJHS will all meet at FIS as we begin renovation work at the junior high.

In addition, free breakfast and lunch meals will be available for pick-up Mondays through Fridays from June 7 through June 25.  This is through the federal summer meal program and is for anyone from birth to age 18.  You do not have to be a summer school student to pick-up these meals.  We will release the pick-up times for those not attending tomorrow.

As we said last night, our COVID-related numbers for Tuesday included one student reporting positive COVID results with two under quarantine.  We also had one staff member reporting positive results with none under quarantine.

Until we post our summer food hours tomorrow, please be safe.

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 has been using Chromebooks this school year and plans to continue to do so in the future.  To help keep your child safer and focused on school work when online, we have adopted online services provided by GoGuardian.  This is a program used by 10,000 other schools to protect 5.5 million students across the world.  There are some common questions you may have about Go Guardian services.

How are we using GoGuardian?

˗          We have chosen GoGuardian Admin services to:

§  Help protect students against harmful and inappropriate online material

§  Help students stay “scholarly” and more focused when learning online

When and how does GoGuardian operate?

˗          GoGuardian’s web-based services operate on our school’s managed Google Suite for Education Chrome accounts (i.e., when a student is logged into Chrome or a Chromebook with his/her school email address).

 What are the school’s responsibilities?

˗          Frankfort Community Unit School District selected GoGuardian services to help our students stay safer and focused on school work when online.  We will work with students during class time to help teach them digital responsibility and safety.

What are my parental/guardian and child’s responsibilities?

˗          We ask that students use their school-managed Google accounts and school-managed devices for educational purposes within the boundaries of Frankfort Community Unit School District and off-campus as well.

˗          When a student is off campus, parents are responsible for supervising internet access and usage.

We encourage you to discuss rules for appropriate internet usage with your child, and reinforce lessons of digital citizenship and safety with him or her.  We also highly encourage you to report any potential cyberbullying or other sensitive issues to us.  If you have further questions, our building principals are here to answer any questions that you may have.
